ROCKWALL, TX. . . Rep. Ralph Hall (R-4th/TX) praised House Leadership
for their letter to Attorney General Eric Holder demanding that he comply with a
Congressional investigation into the "Fast and Furious" operation and the death
of Border Agent Brian Terry.
"Brian Terry's family and the American people deserve to know the truth about
the circumstances that led to Agent Terry's murder," Hall said. "And we need to
know who approved the operation that placed weapons in the hands of drug cartels
and that led to the death of Agent Terry."
"I support House Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Majority
Whip Kevin McCarthy, and Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman
Darrell Issa, who sent a letter this week to Attorney General Holder demanding
full cooperation with the ongoing investigation," Hall stated. "The Justice
Department has not sufficiently complied with a Congressional subpoena seeking
answers about the operation, and we need to have that information."
"The Attorney General has yet to name the persons who knew about the radical
tactics used in Fast and Furious prior to Agent Terry's murder or answer whether
the Justice Department misled or misinformed Congress in response to a
Congressional subpoena," Hall said.
"I will support any action necessary to ensure that the House fulfills its
Constitutional obligations on this matter and that the truth is revealed," Hall
said. "The Justice Department has a responsibility to enforce the laws of the
land and uphold the Constitution - not to block investigations and ignore the
balance of power between the branches of government." |
